Focuses on managing and deploying Windows updates and patches to ensure systems are secure, compliant, and performing optimally. Key responsibilities include developing and executing patch deployment strategies, testing patches for compatibility, automating processes with tools like MECM (formerly SCCM) and PowerShell, and troubleshooting patching failures. The role also involves analyzing threats, creating reports on compliance, and collaborating with other teams to minimize business impact during patching activities.
Key responsibilities
Patch and vulnerability management:
Plan, test, and deploy patches, updates, and security fixes across all Windows servers and desktops.
Compliance and security:
Ensure all systems meet security policies and industry standards, often including implementing configurations like Qualys.
Tool and process management:
Develop, maintain, and upgrade management tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) or Intune for patch and software deployment.
Troubleshooting:
Investigate and resolve issues related to patching failures, application conflicts, and system performance.
Reporting and analysis:
Generate reports on patch compliance, vulnerability remediation, and system health. Use data to drive strategy and demonstrate compliance status.
Automation:
Use scripting languages like PowerShell to automate deployment rules, reporting, and other routine tasks.
Cross-functional collaboration:
Work with security, infrastructure, and other IT teams to schedule and implement patching with minimal disruption to business operations.
Documentation and training:
Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Stay current:
Keep up to date on the latest Microsoft technologies, security threats, and best practices.

Required skills and experience
Technical expertise: Deep knowledge of Windows Server (2012R2,2016, operating systems Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
Patch management tools: Hands-on experience with systems management tools like MECM/SCCM.
Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
Security knowledge: Understanding of security best practices, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation.
Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex issues.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with teams and report to management.
Experience: Requires 7 to 8 several years of experience in Windows administration and support, with a focus on enterprise-level environments.
