Role Description

As Accounting Manager, you own the end-to-end financial control cycle—ensuring every entry, reconciliation, and statement is accurate, timely, and aligned with business growth. You are a strategic, hands-on finance professional who bridges accounting, operations, and leadership. With sharp analytical judgment and process discipline, you strengthen internal controls, streamline reporting, and lead the shift from "Director-led" to "Director-reviewed" close operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review the month-end and year-end close process for both Canadian and U.S. entities; prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Manage intercompany accounting, including transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and consolidation accuracy.
  • Oversee cash management: perform daily cash positioning, bank reconciliations, and manage cash flows between entities and client-related accounts.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure the physical flow of goods matches digital and financial records.
  • Validate inventory and costing data (landed costs, unit costs, and valuations); perform cost variance analysis and standard costing for inventory and production efficiency.
  • Identify discrepancies in data flow and collaborate cross-functionally to "break and fix" workflows that don't scale.
  • Improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy by identifying gaps and implementing scalable workflow fixes.
  • Supervise the Accounting Clerk, reviewing AP/AR postings, bank recs, and ensuring clean data entry standards.
  • Maintain accuracy within Fulfil ERP and Shopify integrations; lead initiatives to enhance automation and financial transparency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in month-end speed, internal documentation, and cross-department communication.
  • Provide data-driven financial insights and commentary that highlight operational trends and risks, not just numbers.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth, e-commerce, or inventory-focused environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of intercompany consolidation, inventory costing, cost variance analysis, standard costing, and cash management.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience at a $20M–$100M organization.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency; Fulfil ERP and Shopify experience preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a clear ability to connect data to business outcomes.
  • Proven success working cross-functionally with operations and supply chain to ensure financial data integrity.
  • Effective communicator, capable of thriving in a fully remote environment using collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, ERPs).
  • Self-starter with a "growth mindset"—comfortable with ambiguity and eager to write the playbook, not just follow it.
