Contracts Specialist
to join our
Supply Chain Management (SCM) team
. This role requires you to bring a strong background in contract management and procurement, with the ability to support the planning, execution, and closeout phases of major
turnaround, construction, or brownfield projects.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional with exceptional commercial acumen, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage complex contractor relationships and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with SCM Contracts Advisors and Analysts in developing and implementing contract strategies, including negotiation tactics and sourcing approaches.
- Lead and manage the full contract lifecycle for turnaround(s) or major project events.
- Develop commercial evaluation criteria and facilitate supplier selection processes.
- Prepare sourcing documentation such as RFPs, RFQs, award decisions, and work authorizations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate SCM policies and procedures.
- Serve as lead negotiator for new and amended contracts, ensuring commercial and legal soundness.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and records per company standards.
- Coordinate purchase order setup and manage contract change processes in alignment with project controls.
- Implement robust contract management practices, anticipating contractor behaviors and potential risks.
- Lead by example, fostering collaboration and high performance among contractors and project teams.
- Oversee and report on contract performance for major contracts (typically exceeding USD $1M).
- Develop and maintain Contract Management Plans and ensure governance of the change management process.
- Advise turnaround and project teams on contractual and commercial matters.
- Conduct change reviews, manage approvals, and ensure accurate purchase order updates.
- Support dispute resolution, claims management, and cost impact analysis.
- Lead Contract Performance Reviews, establish KPIs, and track supplier performance.
- Promote continuous improvement and commercial value opportunities with contractors.
- Monitor spend against budgets, ensuring adherence to approved contract values.
- Oversee invoice reviews for accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
- Manage the full contract closeout process, including verification of completed work, release of securities, and performance evaluations.
- Facilitate lessons learned and debrief sessions to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the Claims Management Team with final claim resolution, back charges, and dispute settlements.
- Ensure all final invoices are submitted and processed promptly to enable timely contract closeout.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management (preferred)
- Minimum
10+ years of experience in contract management
and/or supply chain management, ideally within turnarounds, large construction, or brownfield project environments - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Ariba, SAP, SLM Toolkit (ABL, ISNetworld), NaviTrack, and TRACK (Contractor Timekeeping Software)
- Turnaround and/or major construction project
experience is a strong asset - In-depth understanding of
turnaround and project contract management & governance - Proven leadership and relationship management skills with major contractors and stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and end-to-end claim management expertise
- Sound understanding of contracting and procurement processes and tools in a project setting
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage tight deadlines
- Broad understanding of strategic, technical, legal, financial, taxation, and commercial considerations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
