About Us:

JJ Excavation & Leveling Ltd. is a winter maintenance company servicing commercial, and municipal properties. We specialize in snow clearing and ice management services and are looking for skilled operators to join our team for the upcoming season.

Position Summary:

We are seeking Skid Steer Operators with experience in snow removal operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be available on short notice for snow events (including overnight and weekends), and have experience working in adverse weather conditions. A valid Class 3 license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate skid steers for snow removal on sidewalks, loading bays, driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces
  • Use skid steer attachments (e.g., buckets, blowers, blades) safely and effectively
  • Load salt/sand and assist with de-icing as needed
  • Perform pre/post-trip equipment inspections and routine maintenance
  • Follow assigned routes and complete jobs in a timely and professional manner
  • Work in coordination with snow plow drivers, shovel crews, and site supervisors
  • Communicate any issues, hazards, or breakdowns promptly to management
  • Maintain safety and efficiency in all operations
  • Keep accurate records of hours worked and equipment usage

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License with a clean abstract (required)
  • Proven experience operating skid steers in snow removal or similar work (minimum 2 seasons preferred)
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic maintenance
  • Availability for on-call work (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on snowfall events
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in cold, snowy, or icy conditions
  • Strong awareness of safety practices and surroundings, especially in tight areas or near pedestrians/traffic
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle physical tasks if needed
  • Good communication and reliability

Assets (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Experience with other snow removal equipment (e.g., loaders, plows, sanding units)
  • First Aid, WHMIS, or equipment-specific training
  • Familiarity with commercial snow contracts or route maps
