Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a remote position, and the firm is seeking candidates located in Ontario.

In this role, you will work across both accounting/tax and assurance functions, with a balanced mix of responsibilities: 40% audit and review, and 60% tax, accounting, compilations, and a touch of corporate finance. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team, develop your skill set, and collaborate on a variety of client engagements across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently complete audit, review, and compilation files, including related tax preparation.
  • Prepare complex areas of files, including personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Oversee and coach junior and intermediate accountants, providing expertise where necessary.
  • Build effective, long-lasting client relationships during assignments.
  • Review the accuracy of work completed by junior and intermediate team members.
  • Respond efficiently to client, manager, and partner requests.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and complete engagements with varying levels of assistance and supervision.
  • Manage allocated projects or assignments and ensure effective time management.
  • Maintain technical knowledge (ASPE, IFRS, CAS) through professional development activities.
  • Supervise and train junior and intermediate staff.
  • Contribute to the overall team effort and accomplish results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience, with demonstrated experience in audit and tax.
  • Completion of a University Accounting degree and CPA designation (or substantial progress towards CPA).
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to support team members in achieving goals.
  • Strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASPE; IFRS experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Caseware, Jazz-it, Tax Prep, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting.
