This is your opportunity to join a custom machining and fabrication company located in Petersburg, just 5 minutes west of Kitchener where you can play a key role within our office team. You are an experienced and self-motivated individual who is looking for the chance to work in a more personal and dynamic environment. This is a full-time permanent position Monday to Friday.

Position Overview:

The Estimator will estimate and quote the cost of manufacturing parts, scheduling the hours necessary to complete jobs, and work with and assist the design and production team to ensure we meet our commitments and customer expectations. This position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot problems and experience in a sheet metal/manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create quotations using industry experience and our software - Paperless Parts
• Review all drawings, specifications and any information provided like 3D CAD Files, detailed PDF Files and spec sheets for manufacturing feasibility, design constraints, errors and outsourced requirements.
• Prepare costs based off material take-off and operation routing and prepare shop drawings for manufacture via in house processes and standards.
• Work with vendors to establish pricing and availability of BOM requirements including raw materials, hardware, specialty items and outside services and set up products accurately in ERP system, work with Purchasing department as needed to fulfil job requirements
• Write up work order work instruction/drawing package ready for manufacture.
• Monitor status of jobs processed and ensure deadlines are met by communicating with production coordinator and Customers.
• Consult and communication with project manager, drafter, engineers and clients involved at all levels of a project at time of quote and throughout process where required.
• Report to and take direction from estimating team lead and operations manager as required.
• Continuous improvement should be foremost in your preparation of quotes and work orders and demonstrated at all times.
• Analyze post manufacturing performance labor over/under runs and work instruction effectiveness ensuring adequate profit margins and implement improvements for efficient manufacturing and quality.

Qualifications:

• SolidWorks and Laser nesting software experience required.
• Experience with ISO an asset.
• Mastercam experience would be a bonus
• Completion of secondary school – some college preferred.
• Minimum 2 years estimating experience.
• Prefer 3 years' experience in sheet metal/custom fabrication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to read and create blueprints.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
