Walden Welding & Mechanical is a trusted provider of industrial maintenance, mining support, and custom fabrication services. Known for our commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and reliability, we support clients across the mining and heavy-industrial sectors with both shop and field services. As our project portfolio grows, we are looking to add a dedicated Estimator to our team.

Position Overview

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for welding, mechanical, and fabrication projects. This role supports the planning, tendering, and execution of work across mining and industrial environments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for fabrication, industrial maintenance, and mining-related projects
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents
  • Conduct site visits to assess job requirements, measurements, materials, and labor needs
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing for materials, equipment rentals, and subcontracted services
  • Prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation for tenders
  • Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and shop/field teams to ensure estimate accuracy
  • Track historical costs and update pricing databases
  • Participate in client meetings, tender reviews, and negotiations when required

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial, mining, welding or fabrication sectors
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication, mechanical systems, and industrial maintenance workflows
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple tenders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Journeyperson trade ticket, engineering technology diploma, or related background is an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
