Purpose:

The Volunteer Program Research and Design Consultant will conduct market research and evaluation processes, to support our organization in reaching our participant registration metrics and support their continued engagement with our virtual peer support program. You will recommend social media campaign subjects, program development and implementation strategies, to support the effectiveness and longevity of our virtual peer support program. Our program supports service providers who work with survivors of online sexual violence, plus victims who have first-hand experience of online sexual violence.

Time: 3-5 hours per week

Commitment: 3 months (option for renewal)

Deliverables:

By the end of January 2026

  • Mini review of our current program + registration flow (1–2 pages)
  • Light benchmarking scan of 3–4 comparable peer support programs
  • Barriers-to-registration brief (3–5 barrier points)
  • Quick wins list with 3–5 actionable recommendations to improve our program
  • 1-page participant journey map
  • Provide suggestions to update our programs page and communication messaging
  • Simplified intake-flow outline + top 3 optimization steps
  • 4-page final summary report with next-step priorities

By the end of February

  • Early impact review (changes to program registration metrics, attendance consistency etc pages)
  • Light program re-design (updated session themes, optional sub group recommendations e.g. BIPOC, caregivers, recent survivors etc.)
  • Provide target audience segmentation profiles (e.g. audience motivations, pain points and preferred messaging) (1-2 pages)
  • Facilitation and participant experience recommendations (1-2 pages)

By the end of March

  • Registration trends brief (including conversions, trends, attendance drop-off points etc.)
  • Volunteer training recommendations
  • Suggested prioritized actions for the next 3-6 months

Duties:

  • Conduct market research to gather insights about prospective participants for our virtual peer support program for service providers (e.g. environmental scan)
  • Create and advertise an online survey for Canadian social service providers to indicate their peer support program preferences including the month, time of day, session topics and more
  • Identify audience pain points, preferred communication channels and ideal program features
  • Identify the critical issues, threats and challenges with our current marketing strategy for our virtual peer support program and suggest recommendations to circumvent these challenges (potential threats including red hat hackers and online perpetrators of sexual violence)
  • Conduct virtual stakeholder interviews with service providers who work in the gender-based violence and sexual violence prevention sector
  • Evaluate marketing metrics to determine the success of using tailored social media marketing campaigns (e.g. tailoring age, geographic catchment areas, gender(s) and more) to advertise our virtual peer support program
  • Develop models to forecast the prospective increase in the number of registered participants based on different service delivery options (e.g. drop-in versus closed group sessions)
  • Produce summaries that detail the campaign performance, key audience participation
  • Share gender and age disaggregated data about our prospective participants preferences for a virtual support group
  • Present service delivery recommendations to the Group and Individual Session Peer Support Supervisors and the Executive Director of the DSVSC

Qualifications

(Preferred)

  • Previous experience conducting market research for organizations that support equity-seeking communities such as women, racialized communities, 2SLGBTQIA+ people
  • Familiarity with software used to track audience engagement on social media platforms
  • Understanding of program development strategies and business practices to ensure high quality service delivery

(Required)

  • Previous experience conducting research, service delivery, marketing or program development for non-profits, charities, or organizations in the gender-based violence sector
  • Partial or Full Completion of a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, women and gender studies, sexuality studies, or a related subject
  • Willingness to learn about technology-facilitated sexual violence
  • Commitment to anti-oppressive and low-barrier service delivery

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00-$12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 – 5 per week
