**Research Assistant, Socio-cultural Research**

**JOB SUMMARY**

**Performance Expectations**

The Research Assistant contributes to the success of socio-cultural research activities. As a key team member, the Research Assistant will:

- Perform quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
- Support the development of data collection instruments; collect data from surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations and document review; and clean, structure and organize data
- Performs descriptive statistical analysis
- Analyze data to identify findings, using tools such as Excel, SPSS and NVivo
- Summarize findings in writing and data visualizations that are clear and relevant
- Contribute to the development of reports and other deliverables
- Assist with project scheduling and coordination tasks
- Contribute to proposal development.

**Qualifications**

The following qualifications are essential:

- Master’s Degree in the social sciences, or other related discipline
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a professional applied research context, or similar setting, with demonstratable use of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., community members, program staff, leadership)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Ability to set priorities, work under pressure, deliver high quality products and meet deadlines.

In addition, the following qualifications are desirable:

- Experience engaging with Indigenous stakeholders and familiarity with cultural protocols
- Familiarity with, and experience working on projects in Canada’s North.
