Position Title: Challenger Baseball Coach

Reports to: Director, Access & Awareness

Job Type: Part-Time Contract

Schedule: Saturdays relaunching in January 2026 at Variety Village (indoor season opportunities) plus 30 minutes set up and 30 minutes take down

Additional hours for Games/tournaments, some travel may be required.

Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour

Job Summary

Variety Village, in partnership with Jays Care Foundation and Challenger Baseball, is seeking a trained Coach to lead our Challenger Baseball Program. This role involves coaching, and creating a fun, supportive environment where everyone can learn and enjoy the game.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with promotion and recruitment of additional players with varied abilities to join the program and teams.
  • Coaching youth and adults with disabilities in the game of Baseball while developing the knowledge of the game, confidence, game strategies and skills.
  • Utilizing challenger baseball curriculum ideas with your experience and leadership to introduce games, skills and activities.
  • Building a challenger baseball network of community, clubs/contacts.
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with the athletes, parents and volunteers involved in the program.
  • Creating an environment that is inclusive and supportive.
  • Communicating with athletes/parents/ guardians, volunteers.
  • Coordinating the participation in tournaments, at Variety Village and in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

  • Challenger Baseball coach training completion.
  • Baseball coaching experience with children/ youth of all abilities.
  • Leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as a team and provide leadership.
  • Passion for the vision and mission of Variety Village
  • Adhere to Variety's internal policies and procedures.
  • Attend required training (Plan to Protect).
