Attention Operational Risk Management professionals Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group Ltd. (CCLFG) is looking for an experienced Operational Risk Senior Manager to join our team, working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and communicator with the ability to identify operational risks, develop or critically assess mitigation plans, implement leading practices while contributing to the strategic direction of the Operations Risk Group and Investment Operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue the evolution and development of a team whose scope, visibility, and importance continue to grow.

What You Will Do

  • Operational Risk Management plays an essential role in driving and embedding a risk intelligent culture and operational excellence into our business processes and controls.
  • Leading and overseeing a small expert team in the governance and execution of our Operational Risk framework you will have the opportunity to work closely with multiple business partners including portfolio managers, client servicing staff, middle & back-office teams, and information technology.
  • Evolve and progress the Operational Risk Management policies, and procedures in line with business and industry developments – leveraging your experience to implement leading practices.
  • Partner with our Information Security Management team, providing operational risk management expertise for our information security policies and procedures and in co-managing our business continuity management and operational resiliency program.
  • Manage and oversee the Operational Risk Management team, currently 3 managers based in Vancouver covering risk incident management, targeted risk assessments, risk and control self-assessments, business continuity, vendor due diligence, as well as the operational risk aspects within projects, fund launches and other undertakings across the entire Group.
  • Partner and collaborate with the Operational Risk Senior Manager running our audit, controls and attestations programs.
  • Working with the Executive, business, and technology teams to identify and manage risks, define and review control effectiveness and provide recommendations for cost effective operational risk mitigation and improvement plans.
  • Report operational risk issues, trends, and outcomes to Senior Management on a regular basis.
  • Enhance our Risk intelligent culture training and education

What You Bring

  • Passion for Operational Risk Management – you have a solid track record in Operational Risk Management or equivalent, and a sound knowledge of risk management frameworks, principles, technologies and broad-based business practices within investment management or financial services.
  • Completion of relevant risk or educational qualification or certification is an asset.
  • Experience in Leading Teams: people management experience including coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, recruiting, and training.
  • Collaborative (relationship building) – you have a collaborative spirit and experience in developing and maintaining productive relationships across all business units and among internal and external stakeholders. You have a genuine interest in understanding others and their individual perspectives and concerns.
  • Influencer – you are a thought leader and influencer and can work successfully with a diversity of individuals and teams at all organization levels. You are an excellent communicator and have the confidence to take your ideas forward and productively challenge the status quo.
  • Strategic Thinking: Experience in setting a strategic direction for an operational risk management team.
  • Continuous Process Improvement Mindset – you constantly take a critical eye to processes with the goal of finding improvement opportunities and are determined to meet short and long -term goals. You enjoy asking questions, identifying root causes and can solve problems.
  • Excellent writing, listening and presentation skills: A proven ability to disseminate information effectively to other employees at all levels of the organization
  • Accountability - you can work independently and as part of a team, taking responsibility for the work you and/or the team does.
  • Investment Knowledge – experience in or genuine interest for the investment or similar financial services industry will be beneficial to your success.

The starting salary for this position is $150,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation for this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
