Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Director of Life Enrichment to lead engaging programs that enhance the quality of life for residents in our assisted living and long-term care communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreational therapy, senior care, and dementia or Alzheimer's care, with a passion for creating meaningful activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This leadership role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing diverse enrichment activities tailored to residents' needs, abilities, and interests, fostering a vibrant and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive calendar of recreational activities, events, and programs aligned with residents' interests and care plans.
  • Lead engaging group activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, and special events to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to integrate therapeutic activities that support residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive health.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during programming sessions.
  • Manage scheduling of programs to ensure consistent participation while accommodating individual needs and preferences.
  • Provide counseling or guidance on aging issues, dementia care strategies, and community engagement to staff and families.
  • Supervise activity staff or volunteers, ensuring quality delivery of programs and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitor resident responses to activities and adjust programming to maximize engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to activity participation, resident progress, and program outcomes.
  • Stay informed on best practices in senior care, assisted living services, memory care techniques, and recreational therapy innovations.

Skills

  • Proven experience in event planning within senior or assisted living environments.
  • Strong background in assisted living or nursing home settings with knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care, and long-term care principles.
  • Expertise in recreational therapy techniques tailored for seniors with disabilities or cognitive impairments.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to assist residents with ADLs during activities while maintaining safety standards.
  • Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple programs efficiently.
  • Compassionate counseling skills related to aging issues and caregiving challenges.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care settings is highly desirable.
  • Leadership qualities necessary for supervising staff or volunteers dedicated to life enrichment programs. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors by fostering an engaging environment that promotes independence, joy, and community connection through thoughtfully designed activities.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 18 months

Pay: $25.00-$26.50 per hour
