**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost (Graduate Awards and Professional Development) the Graduate l Awards, Finance and Planning Officer administers and facilitates the external and internal scholarship award competitions for graduate students. They will develop and distribute information regarding external and internal award competitions and scholarship opportunities available to graduate students, using a variety of information channels including print, web and presentations.

The Graduate Awards, Finance and Planning Officer is responsible for a variety of financial responsibilities within the Office of Graduate Studies, including the provision of student financial aid advising targeting the graduate student population. They also are responsible for the administration and oversight of the Graduate Studies operating budget, ensuring accurate financial reporting and tracking on behalf of the Office of Graduate Studies. The incumbent also is responsible for the planning and oversight of admission scholarships and internal awards processes in collaboration with the Faculties.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Consistent sound judgment, analytical and communication skills and discretion are required in providing advice to students, the public and university community.
- The incumbent must be able to problem solve effectively and decisively.
- In-depth knowledge of policies and regulations of external scholarship agencies (NSERC, OGS, SSHRC, CIHR) for domestic and international students and any other policies and regulations pertinent to graduate funding and research from government agency sources
- In-depth knowledge of policies and regulations of endowed awards for domestic and international students and any other policies and regulations pertinent to graduate funding and research from internal sources.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Ability to effectively organize, multi-task and manage a diverse workload that is deadline specific
- Able to work within well established guidelines, to work independently using good judgment, demonstrating resourcefulness and initiative
- Commitment to supporting equity, diversity and inclusion in a complex cultural environment supporting stakeholders with a range of backgrounds and experiences.
- The incumbent must have maturity, sound judgment as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues, as well as when in contact with Faculties and units.
- Developed research, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills, as well as initiative.
- In-depth knowledge of the University’s culture, as well as institutional goals and objectives is highly desired.

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Four (4) year university degree in commerce, finance, or accounting.
- Minimum four (4) years related experience in an academic environment with knowledge of graduate student admissions and awards processes.
