**Job description**

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

- Team Leads and Program Manager

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

- Provide telephone support, assessment, and crisis intervention for all women seeking assistance. Completing Crisis Call sheets and Violence Assessment forms as required.
- Provide walk-in support, assessment, basic needs, and crisis intervention for all women seeking assistance. Completing Walk-In sheets and Violence Assessment forms as required.
- Crisis intervention includes conducting comprehensive safety plans with Clients in relation intimate partner violence, mental health and substance use, both formal and informal as needed.
- Coordinate and attend Case Conferences with Client and identified supports.
- Obtain appropriate consent to release confidential information as directed by the Client.
- Provide information and accurate referrals as appropriate, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of community resources and shelter programs including internal Child Support, Intensive Case Managers (warm transfers) and therapy referrals as appropriate.
- Provide case management support to clients, focusing on the identified needs of the client and supporting them in achieving their goals.
- Schedule regular appointment times with Client to ensure forward progress on goal attainment and required assessments.
- Providing mentorship and leadership to co-workers, particularly Relief Client Support Workers, student, and volunteers. Work cohesively and collaboratively with all team members.
- Residential management: facilitation of room changes, coordinating expected arrivals and new intakes, and monitoring clients nearing the end of their program stay, assessing the need of extensions, and ensuring documentation.
- Facilitate house meetings and group programming as required.
- Provide an accurate and concise shift change report to oncoming shift.
- Maintain accurate files and case notes, demonstrating appropriate, objective, professional standards of documentation in timely manner.
- Maintain accurate statistics of residential clients and children in Outcome Tracker and the Registration Book.
- Complete Intake paperwork and provide shelter tours to new clients.
- Ensure and maintain resident confidentiality, communicating the limits of confidentiality during service provision.
- Pack up, organize and move client's belongings as required.
- Assist clients with storage and retrieval of medications when requested by the client.
- Distribute, record, and replenish bus tickets for clients as required.
- Assist clients with ordering cabs and providing cab chits as required.
- Contact past clients regarding mail and belongings to be picked up with appropriate documentation.
- Keep crisis desk area stocked with all necessary supplies.
- Refill the client binders with all necessary papers after departure.
- Complete regular cleaning of your workstations throughout your shift with appropriate disinfectant.
- Keep all PPE, crisis response, and first aid kits stocked, and document completed monthly inspections.
- Assist with housekeeping duties as required.
- Assisting clients with donations and basic needs items as required.
- Comply with all policies and procedure of CAWES to ensure the shelter functions smoothly and efficiently.
- Professional oral and written communication.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Working from a Trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive framework while utilizing harm-reduction strategies with clients.
- Advocacy for social justice and reducing barriers to women and their children in accessing services.
- Other duties as required.

Professional Development and Networking:

- Attend seminars, workshops and trainings as required.
- Participate in performance plan development and implementation.
- Participate with feedback in surveys and staff meetings as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

**Education**:

- Minimum grade 12 diploma.
- Post-secondary education in social work or related field considered and asset. Eligibility for registration with the AB College of Social Workers or licensing body that is recognized by the Health Care Act of Alberta is preferred.

**Experience**:

- Experience in domestic violence and/or human services field

Certification/Licenses:

- First Aid Level C with CPR & AED
- ASIST
- Criminal record with vulnerable sector check and child intervention records (completed within the last 6 months)

Competencies:

- Comprehensive knowledge of intimate partner violence and family violence.
- Risk assessment and safety planning capabilities required.
- Strong knowledge of community resources and case management strategies.
- Non-judgmental and empathetic.
- Dedicated to the pursuit of social justice.
- Confidentiality an absolute requirement.
- Must have the ability to work as part of a team in a high stress environment.
- Strong written and communications skill. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
