**Program Coordinator - Children’s**

The Alberta Safety Council (ASC) is a non-government charitable organization that provides safety training in order to achieve its mission of making Alberta a safer place to live, work and play.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Children’s Program coordinator is responsible for leading and managing all Children’s programs, setting strategic direction for the program and building a growing business. Along with all positions at ASC, Program Coordinators contribute to promoting awareness of ASC by participating in appropriate events and activities in the community.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery and leadership of ASC Children’s programs which meet the needs of schools, the community and individuals. This position is responsible for the leadership of the Children’s Program and works collaboratively within ASC and within the workplace to ensure that ASC programs are always current and relevant.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plan and lead the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
- Oversee / mentor safety instructors including their hiring
- Order equipment and supplies for the programs
- Keep track of children’s equipment and keep in good working order
- Develop and monitor an annual budget to support the program
- Monitor the program activities on a regular basis.
- Network with community partners, schools, and organizations to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
- Conduct market research and needs analyses to determine gaps and deficiencies with the goal of growing programs and developing new curriculum within the children’s division
- In consultation with the Operations Manager, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
- Ensure that all program staff receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the programs
- Regular 1:1’s with team to provide direction, input and feedback
- Communicate effectively with teachers/clients’ needs and questions
- Work Trade Fairs & shows as required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years of related experience working with children
- Post secondary education is preferable
- Working in a supervisor position with previous experience is an asset
- Demonstrates initiative, problem solving, resourcefulness
- Computer skills in Windows environment
- Organized, enthusiastic and innovative
- Excellent communication skills, an ability to connect to all levels and types of people
- Accepts ownership and accountability and possesses a high level of integrity
- Standard First Aid required
- Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector will be required

Eligible Benefits

1.Subsequent to the conclusion of a probationary period Enrolment in a Sun Life medical/dental and vision program.

2. Subsequent to the conclusion of a probationary period, enrolment in a matching funds RRSP pension program if desired.
3. Paid vacation earned at a rate determined by length of service with the Alberta Safety Council.
4. Coverage for life insurance and long-term disability after probationary period.
5. A total of 2.5 sick days per quarter and 2 personal days per annum. The number of days will be pro-rated according to the start date of employment.

**Salary**: $40,404.00-$44,252.00 per year

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Early childhood education: 3 years (preferred)
