Payroll is an integral function of all organizations. Accurate and timely pay to employees for services provided supporting the operation is directly tied to KAG Canada’s overall success and engagement. This is a great opportunity for a PCP with aspirations to grow their career by learning full cycle payroll of a large corporation.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Practitioner is responsible for the day-to-day workflow of all payroll functions within KAG Canada. As part of a payroll team of 8, you will be ensuring we are meeting key target dates within pay cycles with a consistent focus on achieving the highest level of accuracy.

**About the position**:

- Processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for our transportation companies with 1,000+ employees based on federal labour standards
- Processing bi-weekly payroll for our construction entity based on provincial employment standards of the NWT
- Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy and identify, resolve or escalate any discrepancies
- Create all related post-payroll processing files and reports
- Understanding and interpreting government legislation to ensure compliance regarding pay, deductions, benefits, taxes and documentation
- Processing new hires, employee changes, terminations, and transfers
- Reconciling and/ or remitting all payroll and company benefit liabilities, including, but not limited to garnishments, pension, provincial health benefits, etc.
- Be the first point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues including resolving discrepancies in an efficient and timely manner
- Provide strong communications and prepare reports as required with all stakeholders (internal and external) as required i.e., employees, management, Human Resources, Finance, government agencies, courts and other administrative bodies
- Verifying and producing ROEs, balancing and reconciling T4/T4As and maintaining payroll records
- Assist with external audit preparations and work with auditors when required
- Administering other duties as required

**What you bring**:

- A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is preferred, or working towards the completion of the PCP certification
- Minimum 2 years of payroll administration experience within a large company processing both hourly and salaried pay
- Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now would be considered an asset
- Must have strong Microsoft Excel skills to be able to manage large amounts of data
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make recommendations based on methodical thinking and analytical skills
- Strong self-starter, able to effectively prioritize key tasks and deliverables with limited day-to-day direction
- Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information
