We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Administrator to join our HR team based out of our Long-Term Care Centre at 7404 - 139 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will be responsible for managing the complete payroll cycle for our employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments, and ensuring compliance with Alberta employment laws and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees across SMHG including transmitting and auditing all transactions.
- Maintain up-to-date payroll records and ensure compliance with required payroll legislation, procedures and policies suck as Alberta Employment Standards and CRA regulations.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports (e.g., WCB, CPP, EI, ROE’s, T4’s, payroll remittances).
- Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with HR on new hires, terminations, and benefits administration.
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly remittances for Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) and union dues for SMHG’s group of companies.
- Be an expert in UKG Pro Workforce Management and support the education and training of all employees and leaders.
**EDUCATION**:
- Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- CPA Level II Certification is required.
- Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation considered a significant asset.
**Experience**: Required
- 5+ years’ experience in a medium or large organization (450-500 employees).
- High proficiency with UKG (PRO and Workforce Management) and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, problem solving, inter-personal and communication skills, as well as a strong work ethic.
