Field Technician

Information Technology Services - Education Centre

One (1) Temporary/Term Position

40 Hours per Week

**Hours of work: 8:00am-4:30pm**

Starting ASAP anticipated until August 2026

**The functions of this position include (but are not limited to)**:

- Installation/configuration of audio-visual equipment such as projectors, interactive projectors and boards, classroom audio and speaker systems.
- Liaise with other departments on the installation of technology in the classroom.
- Refurbishment of equipment for reallocation to classrooms.
- Pickup of surplus equipment in all DSBN locations for redistribution or recycling.
- Assist Computer Technicians with the installation, setup, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining a variety of hardware including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, IP phones, printers, patch panels, network switches, cameras, interactive whiteboards and projectors, and other peripherals.
- Aid the Lead and Computer technicians in a variety of roles as necessary through the course of a typical school year. These roles will continually evolve with the technology being deployed.
- Service call management including detailed documentation of problem resolution using Service Desk software (TOPdesk), department sign out system and any other communication tools required.
- Travel to schools or bench work & support in the office is required.

**The successful applicant will have**:

- Minimum of two (2) years related experience.
- Experience working in a K-12 educational or related environment, supporting staff and students.
- Experience in audio visual installation, configuration and repair.
- Familiarity with DSBN Facility Services processes, including specifically asbestos report understanding.
- A valid driver's license, along with the ability to travel to schools, offices and offsite locations as required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work at heights on a ladder.
- Excellent learning, communication, and organizational skills.
