Job Summary

Office of Professional Learning (OPL) works within the UBC Faculty of Education to offer professional learning opportunities for teachers and education professionals working in BC and beyond. Programs are flexible and part-time, often online or off-campus, and designed to meet the needs of working in-service teachers. OPL also oversees the implementation and management of the Provincial Teacher Mentorship Office (PTMO), including its two-year pilot program, funded by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care.
The Program Coordinator plays a key role in the planning, development, and delivery of diverse professional learning programs and events, ensuring a commitment to excellent service for participants, instructors, and external partners. This position will also lead the development and implementation of administrative procedures to support the PTMO two-year pilot program.
This position is responsible for developing and managing the logistics surrounding the overall planning, design, curriculum development, facilitation, and delivery of educational programs and events in a cost-recovery environment. The incumbent will participate in the development of program learning materials and evaluation tools, and conduct needs assessments and market research to assist in the development of programming. The role also involves building and nurturing relationships with key partners to amplify OPL and PTMO's profile and impact. Success in this position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and a collaborative spirit—along with the independence to take initiative and drive projects forward.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Manager, Professional Learning (OPL) and the Project Manager, Provincial Teacher Mentorship Office (PTMO). Works closely with both the OPL and PTMO teams. Liaises regularly with faculty members, staff, other UBC units, and external partners such as school districts, government, and community partners.
This position is equally divided between two portfolios, with 50% of time dedicated to the Office of Professional Learning (OPL) and 50% to the Provincial Teacher Mentorship Office (PTMO).
Work Performed- Coordinate the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and events, including both in person and online learning opportunities, ensuring a commitment to excellent service for participants, instructors, and external partners.- In collaboration with managers, assist in the development of all aspects of program and event execution, including the development of program management tools, budgets, curriculum development, facilitation contracts and protocols, and external vendor contracts.- Lead the development and implementation of administrative procedures to support participant, instructor, and external partner recruitment, on-boarding, day-to-day customer service, and retention.- Liaise with a variety of university departments and external partners in the development and implementation of programs (i.e., marketing, learning design, finance, event planning, audio visual).-
