Position Title: Programs Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: 25 hours per week (flexible schedule; occasional evenings/weekends for special events)

Location: South Granville Seniors Centre - Vancouver, BC

Position Summary

The Programs Coordinator plays a key role in developing, coordinating, and delivering engaging educational, recreational, social, and wellness programs for seniors. This role ensures the Centre’s activities are well-organized, well-promoted, and supported by volunteers and staff, while fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for members.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Coordination
- Plan, organize, and oversee the delivery of new and existing programs, services, and events.
- Monitor program attendance, participation, and quality; adjust as needed.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with program leaders, facilitators, and community organizations.
- Confirm instructor participation for the upcoming months and coordinate schedules.
- Coordinate program logistics, including setup, materials, and equipment.

Communication & Promotion
- Produce and distribute the monthly newsletter.
- Keep the Centre’s information boards updated with current and relevant information.
- Develop and coordinate promotional materials (posters, flyers, social media content).

Volunteer Coordination Support
- Provide the Volunteer Coordinator with a list of volunteer needs for programs and events.
- Collaborate to ensure appropriate volunteer coverage.

Scheduling & Staff Coordination
- Maintain a master calendar of activities for all staff.
- Share schedules and updates to ensure program readiness.

Event Planning
- Plan and deliver special events, outings, and fundraising activities with staff and volunteers.
- Book and coordinate speakers, facilitators, and entertainers.
- Oversee event promotion through multiple channels.

Member Engagement
- Welcome members and visitors, sharing information about programs and services.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive environment that encourages participation.
- Collect and respond to member feedback.

Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate program and volunteer records.
- Prepare monthly activity and attendance reports.
- Support program promotion through community outreach.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in social services, recreation, community development, gerontology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in program planning, event coordination, and volunteer engagement.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; culturally sensitive.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media promotion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Comfortable with occasional physical activity (lifting up to 25 lbs).

Work Conditions
- 25 hours/week, schedule set with the Executive Director.
- Flexibility for evening/weekend special events.
- Physical activity involved in program setup and takedown.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
