**Position title**: Purchasing Clerk
**Reporting to**:HSIO Global Controller

**Type of position**:Fulltime, permanent

**Location**: Markham, ON

**Summary of Business**:
Purchasing Clerk compile requests for materials, prepare purchase orders, keep track of purchases and supplies, and handle inquiries about orders. They gather information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services. They make sure that what was purchased arrives on schedule and meets the purchaser’s specifications.

Purchasing Clerk respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations. They also monitor inventory, perform buying duties when necessary, and contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries. They compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to assist in determine the best bid, track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders, and calculate relevant costs.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Perform daily purchasing activities. Issuing outsourcing POs, updating system with order acknowledgements and shipping information.
- Follow up on past due orders. Keep system updated with the most current delivery dates.
- Resolve vendor non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update critical list of purchase orders.
- Work closely with cross functional departments including, but not limited to Engineering, IT, Shipping/Receiving, Marketing and Accounting
- Ensure compliance to company purchasing policies & procedures.
- Identify cost saving measures in procurement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

***Qualifications**:
**Must Have**:

- College certificate with 2+ years of administrative experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office/Outlook
- Strong organizational & communication skills
- Have a strong sense of initiative and thoroughness
- Excellent command of the English language
- Be able to take direction and work independently
- Effective multitasking and organizational techniques

**Desired**:

- Proficiency in Mandarin
- Good understanding of purchasing practices & contracts
- Good understanding of Bill of Materials.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Work well under pressure in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Result orientated with ability to deliver against deadlines
- Self-motivated
- Team player
