**Role Summary**
- This position will be located on one of our job sites in Vancouver, BC.
- The CSO will support site supervision in implementing and managing IRL’s Safety Program on site.
- Maintaining and administering procedures and processes - ensuring the safety of all workers will be of high priority.
- Will support on delivering the education and increasing safety awareness to all persons on the job site.
- Promoting a safe working environment through Toolbox Talks, Safety Orientations and daily inspections.
- Taking necessary measures to ensure correct safety procedures are followed.

**Key Accountabilities**

1. Support the Superintendent on-site throughout the construction phase.
2. Promoting a culture where job site safety is a priority.
3. Clearly acting as a professional, approachable and active safety leader and mentor at all times.
4. Will regularly monitoring health, safety & environment compliance of all workers and sub-contractors on site.
5. Understand all IRL Safety policies and will be responsible for keeping policies up to date.
6. Responsible for the development and growth of site-specific safe work practices and procedures.
7. Working with project management teams and site workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related issues on project sites.
8. Will have continuous contact with the relevant personnel regarding all aspects of IRL safety requirements.
9. Conduct site-specific safety orientation and training for all health and saftey matters and accident prevention.
10. Preparing site safety plans, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments, as required.
11. Leading health & safety meetings and Toolbox Talks as required.
12. Ensuring safety policies are being followed by all employees and operations.
13. Inspect machinery and equipment to identify and prevent incidences.
14. Ensuring all accidents, incidents and injuries are reported to all appropriate parties in accordance to IRL’s Safety policies.
15. Prepare and deliver thorough documentation and reports.
16. Act as a good role model for all things safety at all times.
17. Administer first aid as necessary.
18. Propose solutions to problems and suggest improvement opportunities and recommend preventative measures.
19. Responsible and prepares report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
20. Assist with labour duties and site maintenance where needed.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience**

Must be CSO and OFA qualified at minimum. A Bachelor's Degree in Safety or other construction related education deemed an asset.Must have experience as Construction Safety Officer. Experience in other construction related roles (such as carpenter, laborer etc.) deemed an asset. Ideally would have experience with large scale residential and commercial projects including mid/high rise buildings.

**Required Skills and Availability**
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have hands-on construction and site experience.
- Strong problem solving, organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong with MS Office.
- Minimum level 2 first Aid certified.
- Good knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards.
- Adaptable, and able to use good judgement and manage unexpected situations.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted and valued business partnerships that enable collaborative and decision-oriented working relationships.
- Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure that health & safety standards are being met on site.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
