**Care for Newcomers **just happens to have an exciting opportunity for you

We’re looking for a resourceful, fun and responsible individual to join our **Youth Settlement team **to:

- Work directly with immigrant youth in a coaching or mentoring capacity.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and skill development for newcomers that are part of the skating program.
- Demonstrate expertise in coaching techniques and strategies for skating.
- Adapt coaching methods to meet the diverse needs of youth participants.
- Understand the challenges and opportunities facing immigrant youth.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes physical, emotional, and social growth.

**A little about what you bring to Care for Newcomers**:
**Qualifications**:

- Prior experience working with immigrant youth in a coaching or mentoring capacity.
- Demonstrated proficiency in coaching skating.
- Preferably hold a coaching certificate or relevant qualifications in sports coaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing immigrant youth and a commitment to supporting their holistic development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
- Flexibility to work evenings as required by program activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred).
- First Aid and CPR certification (desired).
- Bilingual proficiency (English and another language) is an assetAbility to communicate in English: reading, writing and speaking.
- Ability to communicate in alternate languages is an asset.
- Demonstrated history of responsible behaviour
- Ability to provide instructions in a calm, inclusive and respectful manner.

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday

- Red Deer, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
