Wellness and Recreation Coordinator

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Wellness & Fitness Programming**_
- Design and implement individualized exercise and wellness programs for clients and employees.
- Evaluate clients’ fitness levels and health conditions.
- Lead individual and group fitness sessions, ensuring safe and effective workouts.
- Monitor client progress, provide feedback, and adapt programs as needed.
- Ensure proper and safe use of gym equipment.
- Conduct regular facility safety inspections and equipment maintenance.
- **Event Management**_
- Plan, organize, and oversee wellness and recreation events such as fitness challenges, health workshops, and community activities.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including scheduling, staffing, and material procurement.
- Monitor event participation and collect feedback to improve future activities.
- Collaborate with local vendors, sponsors, and organizations to enhance event offerings.
- **Recreation Coordination**_
- Develop and manage recreation programs tailored to diverse groups, including youth, adults, and seniors.
- Oversee the scheduling and reservation of recreation facilities.
- Facilitate team-building activities and group sports.
- Support long-term planning for facility improvements and recreation offerings.
- Evaluate the success of programs and provide detailed reports on participation, outcomes, and future recommendations.
- **Athletics Program Management**_
- Design, implement, and manage athletic programs to meet the needs of clients and the community.
- Organize leagues, tournaments, and sports activities, ensuring smooth execution.
- Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, referees, and athletic staff as required.
- Create and enforce guidelines and rules for athletic programs and events.
- Monitor and manage equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools, sports teams, and organizations.
- Promote athletic programs to encourage participation and foster community engagement.
- Ensure all athletic activities comply with safety standards and organizational policies.
- **Facility and Equipment Maintenance**_
- Perform periodic maintenance on fitness, sports, and recreation equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address potential hazards or necessary repairs.
- Maintain an organized inventory of fitness and recreational equipment.
- Assist in facility design, layout updates, and improvements to enhance usability.
- **General Responsibilities**_
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized facility environment.
- Document and manage records related to programs, events, athletics, maintenance, safety inspections, and project work.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
- Stay current with industry trends in fitness, wellness, recreation, and athletics.
- Perform CPR and administer first aid in emergencies.
- Communicate with clients, assist in sales processes, and promote fitness and athletics packages and plans.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Fitness, Recreation Administration, Kinesiology, or related fields.
- Personal Training, Group Fitness, or Coaching Certifications (preferred).
- Knowledge of biomechanics, exercise terminology, event management, athletics programming, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience in managing or participating in sports leagues or athletic programs is an asset.
- Friendly and professional demeanor with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a safety-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with technology, including iPads and database management.
- Valid Class 7 driver’s license and willingness to travel for outdoor sales or project work.

**Education**:
- Secondary School (required)
**Experience**:
- Wellness: 1 year (preferred)
- Recreation: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- CPR Certification (preferred)
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
Willingness to travel:
- 75% (required)
