Fasd Instructional Coach

**The Central Alberta FASD Network/Society is seeking a full time Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Instructional Coach to serve schools in the Central/Prairie Central Regions. The position will be based out of the Red Deer office.**
**Job Summary**:The FASD Instructional Coach is a frontline community worker who is knowledgeable about FASD, and is skilled at facilitating presentations, and sharing FASD-informed practices. The FASD Instructional Coach facilitates ongoing professional development for teachers and education staff, and models and supports the use of FASD-informed instructional practices with educators, contributing to the school authority and provincial goals for student success and meeting the diverse learning needs of students with FASD.
The FASD Instructional Coach helps to facilitate change and is a driver of capacity enhancement and teamwork. Their goal is to facilitate professional learning in the field of FASD, including FASD-informed instructional and classroom strategies, and to improve school staff knowledge and student engagement. Their work helps to promote the creation of positive and supportive learning environments.
While the tasks of the FASD Instructional Coaches will vary depending on the school authority and the needs of the school community, contributions will include:
**Purpose**
Resource Provider
To provide information and resources upon teacher/school request, including updates on new and emerging resources and research.
Instructional Leader
To support teacher capacity to explore the use of research-based, FASD-informed instructional strategies and practices to ensure that students with FASD have access to meaningful and effective learning opportunities.
Classroom Supporter
To support teacher capacity to explore and enhance innovative FASD-informed instructional practices through one-to-one coaching and feedback.
Learning Supporter
To identify professional learning needs in the field of FASD and implement in collaboration with school staff.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in social work, social science, or related field and/or comparable experience with FASD, disabilities, mental health and addictions.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience with vulnerable, marginalized or at-risk populations.
- Extensive knowledge regarding disabilities, mental health and addictions.
- Commitment to a strength-based, client-centred approach.
- Experience with public speaking and facilitating presentations.
- Superior communication ability and interpersonal skills.
- High level of personal integrity and ethical practice.
- High degree of cultural awareness.
- Knowledge of community development processes and ability to enhance community capacity.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and tight timelines.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- A vehicle and valid class 5 driver’s license.
**Salary based on education and experience $57,000 - $66,000.**
