Under the direction of the CAO, the **Human Resources Generalist** provides support and services in recruitment, employee relations, training, staff wellness, and other related human resources activities.
**JOB DUTIES**:
- Facilitate and manage the onboarding of new employees, including notices, scheduling, coordination of activities, communication with internal departments and new hires. Support and recommend continuous improvement updates to the onboarding process.
- Coordinate and support the completion of performance evaluations on an annual and ongoing basis as required.
- Develop an Employee Recognition Program ensuring timely and proper recognition is given to eligible employees for exceptional service.
- Provide support and services around employee related events and activities.
- Review and prepare recommendations to update the Human Resources Policy & Personnel Manual on an annual basis, as well as when necessary to remain compliant with relevant legislation.
- Maintain mandatory training schedule and appropriate records.
- Organize in-house training opportunities.
- Support the process around gathering and administering market information on salaries on a regular basis, both within other municipalities and other sectors.
- Ensure organizational charts are maintained, updated and released in a timely manner.
- Support and services around policy development, including research and recommendations.
- Perform research and reporting on a variety of HR issues.
- Attend JOHS meetings.
- Provide various other administrative support duties to the CAO as required.
- Adhere to the Municipality’s policy regarding records management.
- Adhere to federal & provincial legislation and regulations.
- Conduct and attend safety, operational and training meetings as required.
**SAFETY**:
- Ensure all policies and procedures set forth by the Municipality of the County of Inverness are always observed.
- Report to the CAO, all work situations which are suspected of being unhealthy or unsafe.
- Report to the CAO, any employee whose on-the-job performance or actions contravenes established safety procedures or work practices.
- Report all **near-misses**and **incidents**to the CAO.
- Report to the CAO related injuries or property damage regardless of severity.
- Submit reports on accidents and other hazardous conditions discovered and promptly attend to all hazardous situations.
**EXPERIENCE/SKILLS**:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree or college diploma with a focus in human resources.
- Minimum of two (2) years related human resources experience, public sector experience would be an asset.
- CPHR designation or working towards designation.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be given consideration.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel at an advanced level. Familiarity with HRIS would be considered an asset.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to operate within tight timelines and budgets.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution and relationship building.
- Self-directed with exceptional organizational and time management skills to meet the challenges of a busy work environment.
- Excellent decision maker with sound judgment skills.
