We believe in providing a supportive environment where youth can heal, grow, and lead their communities with strength, pride, and cultural integrity. **Position Summary** Under the direct supervision of the Director of Toronto, the Mental Health and Addictions Counsellor will provide comprehensive counselling services to youth, focusing on mental health diagnoses, substance use, and addiction challenges. This role involves conducting needs and risk assessments, crisis management, and trauma-informed care. The counsellor will also coordinate educational workshops and maintain strict confidentiality **Key Responsibilities** - Provide counselling at ENAGB drop in locations. - Provide mental health counselling regarding the cause, symptoms and prevention strategies of various mental health diagnoses. - Provide counselling regarding the use and effects of alcohol and drugs - Prepare needs and risk assessments - Develop treatment plans and provide service users with tangible skills that will support their goals in counselling. - Must have effective and empathetic communication skills - Must be familiar with Ethical Understanding ensuring services are done in a confidential manner. - Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crisis management and the impact of trauma on mental health and addiction challenges. - Accept and make referrals to outside agencies when needed. - Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all youth, conversations and referrals. - Utilize the ENAGB management record system to document all client encounters in a timely manner. - Coordinate and facilitate educational workshops on mental health and addiction related topics. - Ensure confidentiality of privileged information. - Ensuring a team approach. - Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ENAGB Youth Program. - Other related duties as it relates to this position. **Qualifications** - Must be a registered/licensed counsellor holding either Registered Psychologist (CRPO), Registered Social Worker (OCSWSSW), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCAP), or Registered Psychologist (College of Psychologists Ontario) - Experience in supportive interventions to assist youth to develop to their fullest potential. - Must have extensive knowledge of the Indigenous community (Inuit, Metis or First Nation). - Fluent in an Indigenous language and knowledge of Indigenous cultures is an asset. - Able to work evenings and weekends, if needed. - Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical, and mental demands of the job. - A valid Standard First Aid and CPR. - Valid Driver's license is a definite asset. - A positive, fun-loving attitude. - The ability to work as a team and be self-motivated. - Cleared Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC) is mandatory. - Positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively within a team. **Compensation and Location** **Salary**: $49/hr Hours: 37.5 hours/week Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time Location: Toronto, ON **Benefits** - Paid Sick Days - Paid Cultural Days - Paid Personal Days - Medical and Life Insurance - Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package - Ongoing professional development activities to support your growth and learning **Application Process** Please submit your **cover letter** and **resume** **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $49.00 per hour Flexible language requirement: - French not required Schedule: - Monday to Friday - Weekends as needed Application question(s): - Are you currently registered or licensed as a counsellor (CRPO, OCSWSSW, CCAP, or College of Psychologists Ontario)? - How familiar are you with the Indigenous community (Inuit, Métis, or First Nation), including its cultural aspects? - Have you previously worked with Indigenous Youth?
