**Job Overview**:
The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of production areas, equipment, and facilities in compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The specialist will work with cleaning chemicals, adhere to safety protocols, and monitor sanitation tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for production to resume operations effectively.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Use approved chemicals to clean and disinfect equipment and surfaces, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Disassemble, sanitize, and reassemble meat processing and packaging equipment.
- Clean and sanitize production and processing rooms, ensuring all areas are thoroughly sanitized.
- Restock soap, sanitizer, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Sweep and mop floors, ensuring cleanliness and safety in all areas.
- Oversee the day-to-day functionality of the sanitation department, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Complete scheduled sanitation tasks and monitor the time required to complete them, ensuring high-quality work.
- Accurately complete cleaning and sanitizing records, including logs and documentation.
- Follow a Master Sanitation Schedule, ensuring daily and periodic tasks are completed on time.
- Ensure all sanitation work is done properly and timely to allow production to begin or resume operations.
- Adhere to company policies and regulations on food safety, health, and safety.
- Inspect surfaces for cleanliness and take corrective actions as needed.
- Inspect equipment before and after sanitation to ensure proper working condition.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) to maintain the desired level of sanitation and prevent contamination of products and packaging materials.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department to address any issues that may affect sanitation or the functionality of the equipment.
- Support cleaning and janitorial services in non-production and office areas as needed.
- Monitor chemical inventory and coordinate purchasing requirements with the procurement team.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines, ensuring the appropriate PPE is worn.
- Fill in for key production staff as necessary or as time allows.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager or leadership team.
**Required Skills and Abilities**:
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals properly with an in-depth knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- High attention to detail and a self-motivated work ethic.
- Strong motor skills and the ability to perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting, sweeping, mopping).
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- High level of integrity and commitment to the job.
- A continuous improvement mindset, looking for ways to enhance sanitation processes.
- Flexibility to work off-shift hours, weekends, or additional hours when needed.
- Must have own transportation (company is not on a public transportation route).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, food, cannabis, or CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industry is preferred.
**Education and Experience**:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in a cleaning and sanitation role, preferably in a regulated environment.
**Work Schedule**:
- Expected working hours: Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, with flexibility required for off-shift hours and weekends as necessary.
**Compensation**:
- Hourly wage: $21.00.
**Application Process**:

Pay: $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
