**Use your expertise in Indigenous history, culture, and natural resource management to shape meaningful relationships and help guide the Crown's duty to consult across the Northwest Region.**

**About the job**: The Northwest Regional Resources Section is seeking an experienced professional to provide expert advice, coordination, and support on natural resource management in alignment with the Crown's legal obligations related to Indigenous communities. Reporting to the Regional Resources Manager, you'll work both collaboratively and independently to guide consultation processes, support policy implementation, and contribute to regional program delivery.

In the role, you will:

- support and/or lead consultation and negotiations with Indigenous communities
- provide guidance to internal staff and external clients on meeting legal and policy obligations
- coordinate regional implementation of natural resource management programs and initiatives related to Indigenous peoples
- participate in policy development and contribute to project teams
- provide analysis and recommendations related to Indigenous programs, policies, and outcomes

**What you bring to the team**:
**Indigenous knowledge and technical expertise**: You have:

- demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, treaties, and associated rights in Ontario
- understanding of issues, trends, and intergovernmental relations affecting Indigenous peoples
- knowledge of natural resource management principles, policies, and best practices

**Communication and relationship-building**: You have:

- proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Indigenous communities and diverse stakeholders
- written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver materials for a variety of audiences
- demonstrated political acuity, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive issues

**Policy, research and analytical skills**: You have:

- the ability to interpret legislation, policy, and regulation to ensure compliance with Indigenous-related requirements
- analytical skills to assess information and develop evidence-based recommendations
- the ability to evaluate and communicate implications of natural resource management decisions

**Planning and coordination**: You have:

- the ability to lead strategic planning, develop work plans, and manage project financials
