**Program Overview**
The Dec 6 & NESS funds serve women and gender diverse people 18 years or older, living in Nova Scotia, who are currently fleeing, or have recently fled, abuse or violence. The Dec 6 Fund offers safety planning, resource navigation and financial supports to help alleviate the barriers to achieving safe housing. The December 6 fund offers non-interest-bearing microloans of up to $500 for housing-related costs, which may include damage deposit, rent, power payments/arrears, moving or storage costs, and phone/internet payments. Flexible and affordable repayment is scheduled based on individual means. The NESS fund offers grants up to $1000 for housing-related costs, which may include damage deposit, rent, power payments/arrears, moving or storage costs, and phone/internet payments. The Program Coordinator and December 6 Fund Resource Navigators can provide resources, referrals, and advocate as needed.
**Essential Duties of the Position**:
- Advance the mission and vision of YWCA Halifax.
- Ensure the grant funded project's objectives and outcomes are met.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with external program partners to provide awareness of and supports for December 6 Fund program.
- Administrative duties associated with the December 6 Fund program.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- The coordinator will have an undergraduate degree in Social Work or related fields such as Sociology, Psychology, Adult Education, Child and Youth Studies or equivalent.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of or previous experience working within domestic and intimate partner violence.
- Experience in community service navigation and case management.
- Effective interpersonal skills and computer literacy.
- Knowledge of community-based, trauma-informed, and harm reduction practices are an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in an environment that is not always predictable.
