Summer Explorers Camp Leader

**Job Purpose**:
The Summer Explores Camp Leader will focus on providing support to youth with autism through community recreation and leisure programs. This position plays a key role in facilitating individualized support, helping youth achieve their personal objectives and goals, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a high-quality, inclusive environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Inclusive Work Environment**

Work within a supportive, inclusive, and non-discriminatory work environment, ensuring that all participants are treated with respect and dignity, and that policies of equity and inclusion are followed.
- **Training and Development**

Participate in intensive training programs facilitated by a multidisciplinary team, gaining skills and knowledge necessary to effectively support youth with autism and other developmental challenges.
- **Shadowing Regulated Health Professionals**

Take advantage of opportunities to shadow and learn from regulated health professionals, gaining hands-on experience in providing care and support in a community-based setting.
- **Community Recreation/Leisure Program Implementation**

Assist in the direct implementation of community recreation and leisure programs, ensuring they are accessible and engaging for youth participants, tailored to their individual needs.
- **Support with Daily Living and Personal Care**

Provide direct support to youth with autism in their daily living activities and personal care, including assistance with hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility as required.
- **Implementation of Support Plans**

Implement individualized support plans for each youth, ensuring that their specific needs, goals, and preferences are met within the context of program activities.
- **Data Collection and Management**

Record data on participant progress, behavior, and program outcomes using the SASS data management system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with program protocols.
- **Facilitation of Learning and Growth**

Support the learning and development of youth participants in line with their individual objectives, using specialized tools such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technology when appropriate.
- **Community Interaction and Integration**

Facilitate community interaction and integration for youth, helping them develop social skills and encouraging meaningful participation in community events and activities.
- **Summer Program Client Representation**

Serve as the key representative for a specific youth client in the summer program, advocating for their needs, ensuring they are fully supported, and acting as their primary point of contact.
- **Program Materials and Setup**

Ensure all necessary program materials are available and assist in the preparation, setup, and takedown of program activities, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
- **Team Collaboration**

Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, contributing to a positive and supportive work culture. You will be supervised by the Assistant Coordinator or Coordinator, and guided by experienced SASS leadership.
- **Other Duties**

Perform other duties as required, ensuring the success and smooth running of the program and any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisors.

**Rotational Shift Work**
In the event of staffing shortages, be available for rotational weekday morning shifts and weekend shifts as needed to ensure program continuity

All successful applicants are required to have a valid police check and First Aide level C
