About the Role

The Injury & Illness Claims Administrator is primarily responsible for supporting the team with full cycle management of disability claims such as medical leaves, long term disability and workers compensation claims. Outside of these core responsibilities, you will also support the team with policy and program development, data entry and assisting with ad hoc projects as needed.
- Act as the first point of contact for employees injured at work - coordinate medical appointments, maintain modified work packages, and coordinate return to work planning.
- Conduct detailed phone interviews and support the incident investigation process.
- Responsible for the proactive management of assigned disability claims such as medical leaves, long term disability and workers compensation claims. This may include, but is not limited to:

- Provide ongoing support for employee’s to ensure a safe and effective return to regular work duties.
- Coordinate return to work plans and prepare Modified Work Arrangements while following best practice and legislative obligations with respect to the development of workplace accommodations.
- Maintain spreadsheets and up-to-date claim file notes for all assigned cases.
- Stay in tune with the status of all claims and develop strong strategies to eliminate lost time.
- Monitor claims for consideration of appeals.
- Track claims experience, define trends, and assist in developing recommendations for proactive strategies to support employee wellness and/or changes to policies and practices.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of the health and safety program and provide support on ad hoc projects.
- Other administrative tasks as needed such as filing, scanning, and ad hoc reporting.

Knowledge/Skills
- Familiar with occupational health and safety, and workers compensation legislation in BC, AB, SK, MB, ON is an asset
- Comfortable speaking on the phone, having difficult conversations
- Highest degree of respect and confidentiality
- Extremely well organized
- High Sense of urgency and prioritization skills
- Excellent Customer Service and communication skills
- Exceptional eye for detail
