**Full Time Recovery Coach/Support Worker**
**The Recovery Coach provides essential peer support, mentorship, and practical guidance to men residing in our pre-treatment homes. Drawing on personal lived experience with addiction and recovery, the Recovery Coach will inspire and empower residents to maintain sobriety, actively engage in recovery-oriented activities, and develop the necessary life skills and community connections to thrive in their recovery journey. This non-clinical role complements the work of other recovery professionals, focusing on day-to-day support, skill-building, and fostering a strong sense of community within the Oxford House environment.**
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Peer Support and Mentorship**:
- Utilize lived experience of recovery to build rapport, trust, and a sense of shared understanding with residents.
- Act as a role model and source of hope, demonstrating the possibility of long-term recovery.
- Provide empathetic and non-judgmental support, listening to residents' concerns and offering encouragement through challenges.
- Highly Detailed and proficient data entry on FYI database.
**Recovery Plan Development and Implementation**:
- Collaborate with residents to develop individualized recovery wellness plans, setting realistic and achievable goals for maintaining sobriety and preparing for treatment.
- Assist residents in identifying and addressing barriers to recovery.
- Monitor and track resident progress, making adjustments to plans as needed.
**Skill Building and Life Management**:
- Guide residents in developing essential life skills, including budgeting, time management, communication, and healthy routines.
- Support residents in navigating daily challenges and building problem-solving abilities.
- Help residents foster positive relationships and build a strong, sober support network.
**Resource Navigation and Community Connection**:
- Connect residents with community resources, including 12-step meetings, support groups, employment services, educational opportunities, and mental health services.
- Accompany residents to appointments or meetings when appropriate to provide support and reduce barriers.
**House Support and Accountability**:
- Promote and uphold Oxford House principles and guidelines, fostering a safe, sober, and supportive living environment.
- Support residents in taking personal responsibility for their recovery and contributing positively to the household.
- Assist with intakes, orienting new residents to the home and program.
- Conduct wellness checks and perform safety checks as required.
- May assist with administration of scheduled and random drug screening as per policy.
**Group Facilitation and Individual Coaching**:
- Lead or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups and workshops, modelling appropriate participation and a recovery-focused perspective.
- Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to provide continuous support and guidance.
** Documentation and Collaboration**:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident progress, interactions, and any incidents.
- Proficient skills with data entry.
- Collaborate effectively with other Oxford House staff, treatment providers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Adhere to all confidentiality guidelines (e.g., FOIP).
**Qualifications**:
- Lived experience of recovery from a substance use disorder is preferred with a minimum of two (2) years of sustained sobriety is essential for this role.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire hope, motivate others, and provide practical guidance in a non-clinical capacity.
- Highly Detailed and proficient data entry experience with FYI database.
- Understanding of addiction, the recovery process, and various pathways to recovery (e.g., 12-step, SMART Recovery).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage with diverse individuals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local community resources related to addiction and recovery is an asset.
- Completion of a Recovery Coach certification program or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle may be required for some positions.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
**Working Conditions**:
- This position may involve working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate resident needs.
- Work is primarily conducted within Oxford House residences and in the community.
- The role requires empathy, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism.
