**_ MANDATE_**

Manager of Accounting will manage monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes and controls for corporate entities and plans as well as reports of the corporate entities and their subsidiaries and support the annual audit, and tax and other required filings of those entities. The incumbent will be responsible to ensure all documentation regarding the procedures and processes is accurate, timely and filed appropriately. In addition, the Manager will be responsible for managing the Accounting department consisting of three corporate and plan accountants and report directly to the Director of Accounting and indirectly to the Vice-President of Finance and Controller.

**_ CHALLENGES TO BE MET_**
- Monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process and surrounding controls including timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the corporate entities, non-consolidated and consolidated.
- Preparation of monthly, semi-annual and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for the investment plans.
- Preparation of related reports and schedules to financial statements, and analysis of data.
- Management of income and Sales Tax (HST, GST, QST, SLFI) return preparation and filing processes
- Prepare and file required periodic reporting to governments and other regulatory bodies, such as:

- Sales tax remittances
- Workers’ compensation remittances and returns
- Financial information filed with the Ontario Securities Commission
- Accounting and reporting for the industry trade association RESP Dealers Association of Canada.
- Liaison with external auditors, government authorities, consultants, and functional internal divisions.
- Key contributor in annual projects:

- Preparation and issuance of annual tax slips to customers and sales representatives. Filing of the respective returns. Reconciliation of amounts remitted.
- Assist in Statement of Account testing.
- Prepare annual insurance renewal for corporate insurance policies.
- Research and analysis - extensive analysis and information gathering for various projects and assignments (inclusive of work requests and help desk logs, written system requirements, defect logs, testing and documentation of new and existing Information Technology functionality)
- Leadership, coaching, mentoring, performance management for the accounting team to ensure a high performing and engaged team
- Liaison - contributor to external auditors, government authorities, bankers, consultants, and functional internal divisions
- Other annual projects - Key contributor to the preparation and issuance of tax slips, and various sales and corporate income tax-related and projects, statements of accounts, and other
- Review and update of the Standard Operation Procedures as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
