Metro Vancouver Regional District, Canada GB Paving Full time

**Company and Position Overview**:
GB Paving has recently started a civil construction division/company and requires a Civil Labourer to join our team. We are looking for an individual with experience in underground utilities, roadworks and earthworks projects.

You will be working in civil construction on municipal, commercial and private sites within the Greater Vancouver area. You will be taking direction from the Civil Foreman, installing pipe for storm, water and sewer mains, Hydro, Telus, Shaw and Fortis ducting, excavation and gravel placements for new roads.
- Installing underground utilities to designed grades and applicable construction standards including storm, water, and sewer mains + services
- Working with excavator to cut and widen existing roadways to design elevations.
- Operate roller and packers for aggregate placement.
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisors
- Pre-locating existing utilities and working with heavy equipment to ensure that existing utilities are exposed without contact
- Ability to locate and repair existing utilities
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
- Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
- Perform housekeeping tasks and other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Ensure that all installed materials are properly bedded
- Notifying the supervisor of any installation conflicts immediately
- Willing to assist on other tasks with hands-on work when needed

**Qualifications**:

- 1+ years of pipelaying experience or labour installing pipe
- Experience in operating packers and hand tools required
- A class 5 drivers license with a clean current drivers abstract preferred

**Pay: $20.00/hour - $30.00/hour depending on experience**

**Work Environment**:
Our sites are located in the Greater Vancouver area. You must be able to travel to different sites. You will be working around heavy equipment and will receive direction from the Foreman or Lead hand. We work Monday - Fridays, 8-10 hours per day typically.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
