**Human Resources Manager** Island Crisis Care Society Location**:Nanaimo, BC, Canada** Classification: Excluded from Union Reports to: Director of People, Culture & Engagement - Position Purpose_ The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the management, oversight, and day-to-day operations of ICCS’s human resources functions and supervision of designated human resources staff to ensure human resources policies, programs, and procedures are compliant/consistent with legal/statutory requirements and ICCS policies & objectives. As a key member of the ICCS leadership team, the HR Manager plays an important role in advising, supporting, and delivering human resources functions across the organization. - Key Responsibilities_ - Plans, organizes, controls, manages, and directs day-to-day HR operations and provides human resources services in the following areas: - recruitment, - training and development, - human resources information system (HRIS) - attendance & disability management, - performance management & discipline - labour relations in accordance with ICCS policies and procedures and external standards - collaboration with pay & benefits specialists - Advises and participates in the formulation and development of human resources policies and programs in collaboration with the Director of Policy, Research & Projects. - Oversees the entire life cycle of employee leaves of absence, including reviewing gradual return-to-work plans and accommodation requests. - In collaboration with the Executive and senior leadership team, assumes a lead role in planning ICCS’s long-term and day-to-day human resources operations and administration. - Facilitates collaboration and consensus among internal and external partners in support of ICCS goals, and identifies and acts upon opportunities for human resource, business, operational and quality improvements. - Responsible for: hiring and supervising designated human resources staff; and bringing an HR perspective to operational planning and priority setting for ICCS. - Provides expert human resources advice/guidance to the Executive and senior leadership team by methods such as engaging, developing, coaching, mentoring and supporting ICCS management, staff & teams. - In consultation with the Executive team, establishes and implements management and human resources policies. May participate in union negotiations, collective bargaining, and/or Labour Management Committee. - Approves and/or oversees major program/project contracts, priorities, resource requirements, etc. - Fosters positive relationships with senior and other government officials, funding sources, clients, the community, etc. - Performs other related duties as required. - Education & Experience_ - A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field. - Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or equivalent professional designation, is an asset. - A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a senior Human Resources Management role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - Experience working in non-profit organizations, community outreach or supportive housing is an asset. - Advanced knowledge of ADP or other HRIS is an asset. - Core Competencies_ - Heart - Compassion - Integrity - Specialized Competencies_ - Collaboration - Job Knowledge - Conflict Management - Initiative - Leadership - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities_ - Possesses a high level of knowledge regarding substance use disorders, mental health challenges, treatment, and recovery and is familiar with and understands the "Housing First" model and the importance of bio-pyscho-social-spiritual support in addressing these challenges. - Follows and practices protocols and procedures consistently and faithfully and maintains effective routines. - Has a firm awareness of and maintains healthy boundaries and practices and demonstrates self-care. - Is able to understand and contribute to the therapeutic culture of ICCS within their own position and team. - Has a demonstrated ability to manage and balance role responsibilities and interpersonal dynamics in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. - ICCS is an equal-opportunity employer.
