Reporting to the Lead Counsellor, the Student Care and Support Coordinator provides responsive and proactive student mental health support to RRU students at the John Horgan Langford Campus. The Student Care and Support Coordinator oversees and provides intake assessments, threat assessments, coordinates referrals, schedules appointments, offers culturally sensitive individual counselling, and responds to urgent situations as required. The Student Care and Support Coordinator provides counselling interventions to students facing a variety of academic, emotional, developmental and personal challenges. The Student Care and Support Coordinator also facilitates the administrative case management of the RRU Care Team. Working closely with other units within Student Services, the Student Care and Support Coordinator implements and supports wellness activities and facilitates workshops for students, staff and faculty on topics related to mental health, wellness and academic success. - Job Requirements - M.A. (Counselling Psychology), M.Ed. (Counselling) or M.S.W. (Master of Social Work), and a minimum of three years’ experience in a post-secondary setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Registration with BCACC or CCPA is an asset). - Experience in the delivery of one-on-one and group counselling and the demonstrated ability to identify students at risk, and support students (both on-campus and from a distance), with mental health concerns. - Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment and cognitive strategies. - Demonstrated experience in creating effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff, both online and face-to-face. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with situations that require a high level of diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment. - Proven commitment to ongoing learning and skill development and to staying abreast of trends in student academic support. - Demonstrated experience with student service initiation and delivery in a post-secondary environment; strong understanding of student development theory is an asset. - Demonstrated intercultural competence, cultural diversity training experience. - A commitment to learning the effects of colonialism on Indigenous People and addressing relevant Calls to Action issued by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada within the work. - Strong administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, and oversees 1-3 contracted counsellors. - Sound knowledge of RRU, its philosophy and programs is an asset. **Competencies**: Competency Level Definition Learner/Customer Focus 4 Digs deeply into customer feedback and drives the innovations that can enable the organization to better meet customers' future needs. Climate Action TBD - Additional Information - This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-C with a salary range of $76,430 (minimum) to $89,820 (midpoint) to $103,209 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
