Project Coordinator, Facilities, Maintenance

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Facilities, Maintenance & Operations (FMO), the Project Coordinator supports the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Operations by providing management expertise in the undertaking of construction and renovation projects for the Vancouver Island Health Authority. The Coordinator is responsible for the management of selected projects and reports at the Capital Project Meeting on the status of the projects. The Coordinator liaises with the user groups, contractors and FMO staff to ensure acceptable completion of the projects. The position will also meet with the user groups to assist in the development of their project requests for accuracy of budget and scope.
Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and will require the use of a personal vehicle.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Level of education, training and experience equivalent to a post secondary diploma in an applicable related discipline such as, mechanical, electrical, architectural etc.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Five years recent related work experience in an institutional setting.
- Well developed organizational and numeric skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including a wide range of people involved in the process of construction and/or renovation work.
- Ability to analyze unexpected design problems that arise during construction and renovation and to resolve them with minimum disruption to the project.
- Advanced proficiency in current personal computer hardware and software technologies including AutoCAD, Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Valid BC driver's license.
