Purchasing Officer

Due to loosening Covid restrictions, Canuckstuff Toronto is experiencing a surge in demand for sports products. **Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Assist in developing policies and procedures for purchasing operations. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and service delivery.
- Work under upper management and/or collaborate with sales team to ensure business goals are met
- Establish and develop partnership with suppliers, manage suppliers to achieve cost-effective deals and maintain trust relationships
- Reviewing technical specifications for materials, components, and equipment
- Handle purchase, perform all purchasing functions, such as issuing purchase orders (POs), invoice creation, pricing verification, payment communication, complete entries into accounting system.
- Place orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus
- Ensure products are delivered promptly
- Analyze data to anticipate future needs
- Co-ordinate with the design team to source and purchase raw materials for manufacture of Canuckstuff’s products, which is to be exported to Australia, US, and the UK market.
- Co-ordinate with the marketing team to arrange logístical transportation to ensure products are delivered promptly, especially to meet market needs for products required for seasonal sports
- Sourcing new sports related products from international markets

**Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed**:

- Minimum of 3 years’ related experience in the apparel/ têxtile purchasing/sourcing management.
- Strong network in global apparel manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with sources of related vendors and suppliers.
- In-depth knowledge of têxtile for the garment
- Prior negotiation experiences an asset
- Great communication skills to build and maintain long-term, fruitful relationships with suppliers
- Comfortable travelling domestically and internationally to visit suppliers
- International & domestic shipping, customs and freight forwarding experience essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.

**Wages & Benefits**:
Annual Salary: $57,460 (6.5 hours per day, 5 days per week), plus 10 days paid annual vacation.

All the major badminton brands are well represented with Yonex, Victor, Apacs, Li Ning, Black Knight, etc.
