St. Paul’s Hospital is currently looking for Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) to fulfill the following positions: - _Clinical Support Clerk_ - _Booking Clerk_ As an MOA, you will have the chance to work within multiple units and departments of the hospital. We currently have exciting opportunities in Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, Palliative Care, and Cardiology. ****** **IMPORTANT NOTES**: - Your typing speed will be tested. The requirement for this position is 40 words per minute. ****** **Education**: - Grade 12, plus two year’s recent related experience in healthcare—or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. **Personal Attributes and Core Skills**: - You can type at least 40 words per minute (speed will be tested) - You understand medical terminology (knowledge will be tested) - You are autonomous and organized - You communicate effectively both verbally and in writing **Positions Overview**: Clinical Support Clerks work at the front desk of each unit. They perform a variety of duties for clinical areas, such as: - transmitting information to patients and visitors - booking appointments - processing admissions, transfers, and discharges - performing secretarial and clerical duties such as typing letters and forms; filing and storing documents; checking, processing, and sending test result information; ordering supplies. Booking Clerks work in specialized units (Cardiology, Surgery, etc.). Their responsibilities include: - Scheduling and booking a variety of appointments (visits, follow-up visits, tests, referrals, etc.) - Performing reception functions for the designated area - Maintaining appointment calendars for designated physicians and/or other designated health care professionals as required - Coordinating daily schedules that integrate activities from various sites as needed - Maintaining and monitoring wait lists - Maintaining charts and entering data into a computerized system **About Providence Health Care**: Guided by the principle “How you want to be treated,” Providence Health Care delivers compassionate care to meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of its patients.
