**Exhibit Lead Hand**
Heritage Park is looking for an Exhibit Lead Hand. Under direction of the Interpretation Manager and working with the Public Programming Specialists, the Exhibit Lead Hand is part of a team responsible supporting daily aspects of exhibit interpretation, including the training, supervision mentoring, and evaluation of seasonal staff ensuring that standards of historical interpretation are maintained
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff and returning staff;
- Coordinates daily work assignments while supervising staff and volunteers who provide exhibit interpretation for Park guests;
- Arranging for emergency and lunch relief as required;
- Prepares program sites — under direction from the Public Programming Specialists, providing staff and volunteers with information as required; and procuring, preparing, organizing and distributing objects and supplies for program use;
- May rotate through a series of exhibits, providing breaks for Interpreters and delivering interpretive programmes in their absence;
- Works with the Interpretation Manager and the team of Public Programming Specialists in determining objectives and evaluating performance of interpretive staff;
- Ensures exhibit areas are operated in accordance with prescribed standards of safety, security and cleanliness, completing maintenance request forms as required;
- Assists with special programmes upon request;
- Providing service and/or information to guests; and
- Performs other duties as required.
**Education and Experience**:
- High School diploma plus some post-secondary education in related areas (western Canadian history, historical interpretation, communications). Combination of historical knowledge, communication skills and supervisory skills will be considered;
- Experience as an Exhibit Interpreter at Heritage Park is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered; and
**Skills**:
- Demonstrated responsible leadership skills and the ability to approach tasks independently
- Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills;
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment; and
- Mature judgement and respect towards others with a constant attention for safety and security concerns.
**Special Clothing and Equipment**:
- The appropriate costume will be provided by the Costuming Department to be worn when providing interpretation in an exhibit;
- Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.
**Special Working Conditions**:
The employee may be required to stand or walk for long periods of time and may be exposed to extremes in temperature, depending on weather.
**Hours of Work**:
Commitment to five days per week for the summer (includes weekends) plus weekends during fall; hours vary.
