**Type**: Full-time, Permanent

**Hours**: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:45 pm, flexibility required

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Controller, the individual in this role is responsible for leading the payroll and benefits administration for all Intercare staff while adhering to the values of Intercare.

The portfolio will include but not limited to: overseeing and administering Intercare's Group Benefit Plan; the overall supervision, performance management, support and mentoring of all payroll team members; addressing payroll concerns; and ensuring the full cycle of payroll is being completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role demands a high degree of confidentiality, focus, and the ability to meet set deadlines.

**Hours**: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:45 pm, flexibility required

**Qualifications**:

- Payroll Certificate Program; and/or equivalent CPA program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience completing full cycle of payroll in a unionized environment.
- Ability to effectively lead, mentor and develop other payroll practitioners.
- Current knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards.
- Excellent computer skills and prior experience with Microsoft Office (MS Excel specifically).
- Excellent accuracy, time management, problems solving and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and to work effectively as a member of a team.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Mentor and support new Payroll team members in Intercare’s payroll cycle process.
- Oversee accurate data entry of new employee information and address payroll concerns and adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll processes, including parity, non-worked stats, and sick days.
- Process Employee Data Forms, Letters of Employment, Records of Employment, and other required documentation bi-weekly.
- Handle non-routine earnings/deductions (garnishees, payouts, leaves) and produce payroll reports for leadership and auditors.
- Conduct bi-weekly payroll audits and assist payroll staff in routine payroll processes.
- Provide payroll and benefits training and respond to related inquiries from leadership.
- Maintain and verify reporting systems for vacation, seniority, sick days, and benefits.
- Manage Union dues processing, reimbursements, and T4 slips distribution.
- Complete and oversee payroll reports and support ongoing payroll processing
- Perform other duties as required
