Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer and working closely with the Director, Communications and External Relations and Manager of Communications, this position is responsible for the coordination of University-wide events as well as fostering relationships with Alumni, developing and maintaining Alumni programs and maximizing engagement opportunities.

Other principal accountabilities include being the primary point of contact for Alumni at the University, updating and maintaining the CRM, event planning and management, coordination of NOSM University tours for delegates and stakeholders, playing an important role in achieving approved fundraising objectives.

This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.

**Responsibilities**:
Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

- Creates annual strategic alumni plan, manages budget and activities.
- Collaborates on meaningful student engagement initiatives that will strengthen lifetime affinity with NOSM University. Grows an active, informed, engaged, and philanthropic alumni body and creates programs that build bridges between current learners and alumni.
- In collaboration with the Communication’s Unit, develop communication for advancement programs and alumni specific fundraising initiatives.
- Plans and implements strategic NOSM University events such as: convocation, homecoming, award celebrations, fundraising and conference receptions.
- Conducts external visits with alumni and friends to assist with cultivation and stewardship of supporters. Establishes a strong alumni connection through special events and outreach activities in order to capitalize on their strong connection to the University’s mission.
- Plans and coordinates NOSM tours for dignitaries and key stakeholders.
- Primary point of contact for all alumni, alumni programs and services.
- Analyzes progress of alumni initiatives and prepare progress reports.
- Measures return on investment for alumni plan activity and recommends continuous methods to improve engagement
- Oversees volunteers for special fundraising activities and events for the University.
- Provides support to the Fundraising committee to allow them to better leverage their connections and access to resources.
- Creates master calendar of whole-university events.
- Updates and maintains alumni CRM.
- Represents NOSM University at external events as required.
- Maintains ongoing productive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as senior members of NOSM U, outside agencies, and governments
- Performs other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- A University degree in Business, Communications, or relevant discipline from a recognized university/college with Canadian accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum of three (3) years of alumni relations and external relations required, including experience fostering productive relationships with foundation, corporate, and individual fundraising
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading, planning and organizing special events
- Experience working in a distributed environment
- Strong relationship management, project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to various internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience securing individual gifts or sponsorships
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Experience with online marketing and communications including social media is an asset
- Experience coordinating and conducting tours
- Proficiency in database management
- Work in a consultative and collaborative fashion with a variety of other units to further overall university strategic objectives
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
- Work flexible hours, including but not limited to hours which fall outside standard business hours and occasional weekends and evenings

**Language**:

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
