The People & Culture Generalist shines as a dynamic business partner to the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, aligning People & Culture strategies with the organization’s mission to be the heartbeat of the community. This role drives impactful HR solutions across the employee lifecycle—including recruitment, employee relations, total rewards, onboarding, offboarding and DEI—while fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. By championing collaboration and proactively addressing challenges, the People & Culture Generalist delivers programs that elevate team success, strengthen organizational impact, and bring the YMCA-YWCA’s strategic plan initiatives to life.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- **Talent Acquisition**: Partner with hiring managers to align recruitment efforts with organizational needs, represent the YMCA-YWCA at recruitment events, and support the development of job descriptions, interview guides, and comprehensive onboarding plans.
- **Employee Relations**: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on workplace policies, conflict resolution, and workforce concerns, while ensuring fair and consistent handling of complaints and coaching leaders on employee relations best practices.
- **Total Rewards**: Facilitate of employee benefits, rewards, and recognition programs to enhance engagement, maintain accurate HRIS records, and prepare essential documents such as offer letters, promotions, and terminations.
- **Onboarding & Offboarding**: Facilitate smooth onboarding for new hires and coordinate exit processes to gather insights for continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures throughout the employee lifecycle.
- **Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI)**: Champion DEI by fostering an inclusive environment, collaborating with leadership to embed DEI principles into workplace practices, and supporting programs that promote equity, belonging, and diversity.
- **Culture Development**: Act as a culture ambassador by promoting YMCA-YWCA values, driving wellness and engagement programs aligned with organizational goals, and leveraging feedback and data analysis to enhance employee satisfaction.
- **Organizational Development**: Partner with managers and leadership to coordinate training opportunities, address skills gaps, develop succession plans, and lead initiatives that improve organizational efficiency and employee development.
- **HR Operations**: Manage core HR operations by maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and streamlining HR systems and processes through a ticketing management system.
- **Leave Management**: Oversee the administration of all employee leaves, including short-term and long-term disability, while serving as a consultant to leaders on leave inquiries, ensuring compliance, and supporting informed decision-making.
- **Volunteer Management**: Support the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s mission by managing the volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention, while partnering with leaders to align volunteer efforts with organizational goals and community impact.

**_E_**ducation/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Designation**
- Post Secondary Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Must hold at least one designation from CPHR, CPM, CTMP, or RPR. Working towards a designation would be considered.
- Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry
- Manitoba Class 5F License and access to vehicle

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Knowledge and understanding of employment standards, labor laws, and HR best practices in Manitoba and Ontario, with the ability to ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
- Advanced proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and operational reporting, including dashboard creation and process monitoring, to support data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrates exceptional self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills, fostering trust, positive relationships, and effective conflict resolution across diverse teams.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex problems, conduct thorough analysis, and provide actionable recommendations efficiently.
- Exceptional relationship management capabilities, collaborating effectively across teams and organizational levels to build a culture of belonging, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
