**Our Instructors**:
- Our instructors are experienced educators with a passion for making learning accessible, engaging, and possible for learners who find learning difficult and have skills and experience in delivering instruction in at least one of the following three academic areas: reading, writing and/or math.
- Our instructors come from a range of backgrounds including teaching, special education, academic tutoring, behavioural intervention, and are looking for opportunities to develop their professional practice, skills, and knowledge within a collegial environment and organization focused on transforming the educational experience of our students.
**Start date: ASAP**
**Contract/ Part-time**:Minimum of 10-12 hours a week including paid prep time. Hours available are Monday to Friday between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm
**and/or** Saturdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
**Remuneration**:$28.00 to $33.00 per hour, professional development opportunities.
**Instructor Responsibilities**:
- Deliver one-to-one instruction to help bridge foundational skills gaps for students
- Administer informal assessments to help identify gaps in student’s learning
- Work with evidenced-based curricula to develop lesson plans based on informal assessments
- Set goals and objectives for each student with support of a Case Manager
- Write progress reports for students
- Provide brief session summaries to parents/families
- Be punctual to all student sessions
- Attend instructor in-services and workshops throughout the year
- Contribute to our team learning and be an advocate for learning differences and our work in the community
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field with educational experience
- Experience working with children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Ability to use assessment strategies and instruments to identify gaps in learning
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Experience teaching in the following areas: reading, writing and/or mathematics
- An understanding of the BC curriculum
- Orton-Gillingham training (asset)
- Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
- Eligibility to work in Canada
