**Organization Overview**

LDS - Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing, innovative, research-based, educational nonprofit charity serving children, youth and adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia and other brain-based differences like ADHD and ASD. Our growing, affordable programs and services operate throughout Canada live online, from our Learning Centres in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in Access, our electric vehicle mobile classroom.

**Purpose of Position**

Instructors work one-to-one with school-aged (Kindergarten to grade 12) learners, delivering individualized and comprehensive learning support that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-based.

**Principal Roles and Responsibilities**
- Deliver one-to-one instruction
- Create and maintain a learning environment that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners
- Identify learner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment
- Draw from multiple resources and curricula, develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for your assigned learners that are individualized, neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based, technology-enhanced and linked to measurable learning goals
- Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology

**Requirements & Competencies**
- Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
- Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
- Experience teaching the following: literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach, math focused on building conceptual understanding, and support for executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning. Open positions may list additional specific required instructional experience.

**Requirements**:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Eligibility to work in Canada

**Hours of work, Locations & Job type**:
LDS contract instructors work between 6 and 20 hours per week, plus paid prep time of up to 20 minutes per session. Contract positions are part-time contracts between September and June, with a minimum commitment of 6 hours of instruction per week. Contractors are responsible for invoicing monthly for their hours worked and are not eligible for extended benefits. Our contractors primarily have full-time or part-time employment outside of their work with LDS.

LDS has two primary learning centres, located in East Vancouver and North Vancouver. We also deliver sessions live online, and on our mobile classroom in various locations.
- East Vancouver Learning Centre - 3292 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5M 1Z8
- North Vancouver Learning Centre - 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver, BC V7J 3H2

Instructors may work across multiple locations, combining two or more open positions.

**Open Positions, starting September 2, 2025, or earlier (positions may start later than this date, as needed)**:
East Vancouver and/or Online Part-Time Contract Instructor: Multiple Positions
- Any/All weekdays 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (3+ positions)
- Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm (2+ positions)

Mobile Classroom: West 41st and Oak Street, Contract Instructor: One position
- Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 - 6:30 pm
- Specific requirements: math **and** literacy teaching experience

Mobile Classroom: East 41st and Nanaimo Street, Contract Instructor: One Position
- Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-6:30 pm
- Specific requirements: ~K-7 math and literacy teaching experience

**Reports to**:
Contract Instructors report to the Senior Manager, Instruction and Innovation, and work closely with their assigned Case Manager(s) during the academic term.
