**Opportunity**:
MacEwan University is seeking a Program Coordinator for a full-time, continuing opportunity with the Student Wellness Services department. In this role, your primary responsibility is to support the student well-being by overseeing key initiatives within Student Wellness Services, including the Animal-Assisted Wellness program and the Student of Concern program. You will lead the planning, promotion, and implementation of Animal-Assisted Wellness activities, ensuring they meet health, safety, and animal welfare standards. Additionally, you will triage student concerns, coordinate support for those facing personal, academic, or mental health challenges, and ensure timely, confidential, and compassionate follow-up care.

This position is hybrid with the expectation that the majority of work during the first six months being work from home.

Key responsibilities include:

- Serving as the first point of contact for the Animal-Assisted Wellness program and Student of Concern program and liaising with campus stakeholders, responding to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, providing information and/or redirecting as appropriate;
- Planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing Animal-Assisted Wellness events and activities to support student well-being that align with established program directives, broader student engagement initiatives, institutional wellness priorities, and health and safety requirements;
- Establishing protocols and guidelines for program activities, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and relevant animal welfare standards;
- Collaborating with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to ensure compliance with campus health and safety policies, including the development of sanitization protocols, allergy mitigation measures, and emergency procedures for events involving therapy dogs;
- Researching best practices in student wellness and animal-assisted events and making recommendations for program improvement;
- Building and maintaining relationships with various campus groups and community groups to identify and explore opportunities and foster collaboration on joint initiatives through promotional materials and creative visual assets;
- Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding volunteers and their dogs for participation in the Animal-Assisted Wellness program;
- Providing orientation, training, and ongoing support for volunteers to ensure compliance with institutional standards, program requirements, and best practices in Animal-Assisted Wellness with emphasis on institutional health, safety, and hygiene protocols for animal-assisted programming; and
- Accurately updating and maintaining program record by collecting, verifying completeness, and inputting data into a variety of spreadsheets and databases to ensure program compliance and reporting purposes.

**SKILLS**:
You will have:

- A passion for wellness and engagement programs;
- Strong knowledge of guide dog and service dog legislation and related accessibility laws;
- Comfort and competence in working with dogs, with an understanding of animal behaviour and welfare standards;
- Public speaking skills;
- Knowledge and understanding of engagement planning and event coordination principles
