Junior Database Admin - Contract position in Vancouver(Hybrid):

**Junior Database Admin **with our client
** **for a
**contract opportunity**.

**Role Description**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Assist team members with plans for Database Management System upgrades and fix packs. Collaborating with other teams to ensure operational stability, system availability, and the enabling of new functions. This also includes assisting other team members with the software vendors on features and issues.
- Assist other team members in collaboration with other team members on the creation, maintenance, configuration, and support of database instances. Develop the operational support procedures for the Database Management systems.
- Assist team members with setup in collaboration with engineers and the monitoring of production databases including availability, performance, and deadlocks. Looking at real-time and historical performance.
- Respond to database system monitoring alerts and exceptions and provide database system problem recovery and resolution.
- Assist other team members with Database instance performance tuning and implementation of database system software tuning improvements (such as an instance or database parameters, file system resizing, changing transaction log size, new temp tablespaces for batch jobs, and archive log management).
- Assist other team members with the support, maintenance, and development of ETL/replication processes including Information Integrator replication administration.
- Perform Data corrections and manipulation processes. Directing engineers on the process to ensure audit requirements are met.
- Provides effort estimates for the backlog as needed.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement in the area of process, technology, and people

**Requirements**:

- General knowledge of cloud computing platforms (i.e. SaaS, IaaS, or PaaS).
- Working knowledge of IT and data governance, including standards definition, promotion, evaluation, and enforcement.
- Working knowledge of information technology.
- Working knowledge of DBMS concepts.
- Working knowledge of database tools and D/B Admin activities.
- Demonstrated ability to create a simple normalized data model based on business requirements.
- Able to comply with the company’s Employee and Contractor Mandatory Vaccine Policy.

**Nice-to-have**:

- Familiarity with the company environment.
- Familiarity with Azdo and Automate.
- General knowledge of DB2.
- Working Knowledge of SQL Server.
