**What you offer?**

This position will play an active role in the day to day operations and management of the physical plant and housekeeping of multi-site locations. Physical plant services include maintenance, cleaning, custodial and program services. The primary location will be the Taggart Family Y, which is the largest facility in the Y’s network, including shelter housing operation for 300+ individuals. The person holding the position will be require on occasion to work at other sites in the west end and east end of Ottawa.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the facilities and equipment as well as maintenance and repair of all major equipment and systems, HVAC, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and security systems while maintaining good communication with all parties involved, for example; staff management, scheduling, suppliers. Internally, the holder of the position will enforce security rules, follow up on various requests, negotiate with vendors, contractors and customers and manage any personnel necessary to carry out assigned projects.

The Facilities Manager will play a leadership role to their team and will work with other team leads throughout the facility to implement Standards of Service Excellence to ensure a high quality of service delivery to our clients, members and staff.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Liaise with the other team leads of the facility to maintain clear and consistent communication
- Provides hands-on services and direction related to the maintenance, and cleaning contracts.
- Monitors contract services to ensure quality standards are met and contract compliance.
- Verify that equipment, materials and projects also conform to applicable standards, procedures, and by-laws.
- Establishes and implement work programs for startups/shutdowns and preventative maintenance of the specific areas
- Develops, maintains and controls cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishment expenditures
- Responsible for purchasing of supplies, placing orders, receive supplies, check invoices against orders and goods received, and store and distribute supplies.
- Ensures new employees and volunteers receive role and program specificorientation and training.
