**General Carpenter - Construction**

Forthright is searching a Carpenter to work on our ever-growing portfolio of new builds, reporting to the Site Supervisor. If you are looking for a role that offers full-time work with employee benefits, then this is the opportunity for you

The General Carpenter will work at various residential, multi-family, construction sites around Winnipeg, and neighbouring communities within Manitoba and be involved in the construction of residential, five story apartment blocks.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ability to fabricate cut wood components, framework, install windows and doors frames, repair wood structures, perform trim and finishing work.
- Ability to read blueprint drawings to understand the project and trade works.
- Knowledge of basic forming and concrete skills.
- Will lead and instruct two to three workers (if Journeyman or Red Seal).
- Must clean, maintain and store tools equipment properly.
- Ability to communicate and work with sub trades.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision at times.
- Other construction-related duties as assigned.

**Education**:

- Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience working on job sites.
- Red Seal, or 3rd year Apprentice preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations.

**Experience**:

- Attention to detail, and ability to adhere to high standards.
- Extensive knowledge of power tools: miter saw, compressor, nailer, skill saw, basic hand tools.
- Able to work independently and as a team player.

**Environment/Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to work in a construction environment, including exposure to various weather conditions.
- Good physical condition: able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, use ladders and work outdoors.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work sites and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be punctual. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Willing to work some weekends, overtime, and holidays on occasion to meet project deadlines.
- On-site presence required throughout the duration of the project.
